“Something slightly different today. In addition to my work as a portrait photographer, I also perform commercial work. I have recently started working with blueblancmange ltd, an exciting new internet retailer based in Bedfordshire, selling beautiful lounge pants, shorts, and tops. I love the vibrant colour styling on their lounge pants – and they’re so comfortable I’m wearing some now as I write this on my laptop!
The shoot included studio photography to create stock product images illustrating product detail, as well as mood shots recreating situations in which the clothing would be worn. The photographs will be used in selected marketing materials, including a feature in the Queen’s Jubilee edition of Tatler magazine, a collector’s edition for June.
blueblancmange was launched 18 months ago and, in addition to selling via their website, they sell at select events around the country such as The Game Fair, the Lincolnshire and East of England shows, larger venues such as the Spirit of Summer and Christmas Fairs, as well as supporting worthwhile charity fundraising fairs including The Asthma Fair at Linton, Cambridgeshire”.

“At the weekend I went to a Christmas fair at one of the local statelies. Perhaps I should say ‘Fayre’.
No sign of a recession in there, I tell you. People were falling over themselves to buy silver marmite lids, hand-painted scarves, cheese and multiway folding tops that are only ever worn one way once you’ve figured out how to unwrap yourself without causing injury. I nearly had my chair whipped away from underneath me mid-cuppa when we stopped for a breather. Sharpened elbows were definitely required, along with stamina and determination to not lose your shopping buddies.
There were some gems in there though. Delicious food goodies, some lovely lanterns, soft as butter cashmere tops, and if you wanted to buy wedding presents you could have filled a hamper ten times over with beautifully painted pottery and plates.
I was terribly restrained though. I treated myself to just one item. Oh, and the happiness which is resulting from it just goes to show that sometimes it does you good to spoil yourself. After all, I’d finished everyone else’s present shopping. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
I am totally in love with my new loungewear item. There’s a word I never thought I’d type.
My new Cornell pajama / trousers to ‘lounge in’ are divine. The lovely lady at Blue Blancmange was right – they are long enough for me. I’m tempted to rush back and order another couple of pairs. I adore them. Perfect for when you’re chilling out at home and want an alternative to jeans, they’re smarter than trackie bums and warmer than leggings. One of the biggest problems I have with being so tall is that my back ends up being cold. My mother spent half my youth tugging up my trousers and pulling down my tops – in the days before hipstery fashion was cool, she worried about my kidneys getting cold. But my Cornells are nice and deep; days of working at home without being wrapped up are now possible.
Plus, they make me feel young and cool. Which is always a good thing.
And to get a pair of these snuggly lovelies, you don’t need to sharpen your elbows and plunge through a crowd as they’ve just started online ordering through their site at www.blueblancmange.co.uk
Only one issue concerns me. Does having lounge pants now mean I have a lounge not a sitting room or a living room?”

“In spite of all the primping and preening, gorgeous outfits and killer heels, parties and fashion shows, I love nothing more than vegging out in comfy PJs when I get home. So imagine my glee upon discovering the answer to all my dreams this week…
Blue Blancmange are officially the creators of my down-time holy grail. Lounge pants, day-PJs, call them what you will but they are perfection. In super soft brushed cotton, Blue Blancmange’s bottoms come in a vibrant range of multicoloured checks and unisex sizing. Unbelievably cosy, they are just the ticket for lazy weekends and chilled out evenings. I am completely in love with the pink and purple check Paros bottoms, they have my name written all over them.
Described as ‘heritage inspired with a quirky twist’, Blue Blancmange was founded in October 2010 by friends Lynn and Jillian, inspired by the lifestyles of today’s teens and young adults with a trend for casual, comfy dressing. The range is completed with soft cotton tops, tees and hoodies.

“Heritage inspired with a quirky twist” is the way to sum up the relaxed cut and colourful checks and stripes of the blue blancmange brand’s capsule range – like PJs but designed not just for sleeping but also lounging, they are perfect day or night. It’s an oh-so-ideal way of being fashionable and cosy without actually getting dressed. Practical and yet smugly on-trend, the value is in the smallest details such as the contrast waistband linings, deep pockets and generous leg lengths. Unisex styling and sizes XS/S/M/L/XL… the rest is up to you”!
